We all like to do what we do best. For you that means looking after the everyday running of your business – whether it’s manufacturing, engineering, law, or whatever. For me, it’s about writing the materials that will help you do business better – helping get your name better known and driving more sales for you. Many businesses – and not just those that are termed ‘small businesses’ – are sometimes reluctant to hire in a professional business writing service. They’ve looked after it in-house since the year dot and everything seems to be fine. And that’s OK in some instances. Yet, often, there lies the problem. Why? Well you end up not being able to see the wood for the trees – you simply become unable to look at your business in the same way that a prospective customer might.
That’s where a copywriter or professional business writer can help. In many businesses that I’ve worked with, it’s not simply a question of whether the actual copy in the various brochures, newsletters or ads are up to scratch (they generally are, by the way, give or take a few improvements that can easily be made). No, it’s often the case that a business should really be telling a better story about themselves; presenting their company in a fresher way; changing their tone of voice, or simply being more confident about themselves. By seeing you as the prospective customer sees you, a copywriter will spot the areas where your business image can be improved – simply and memorably. More often than not, this is the step before looking at any specific web content, corporate brochures, blogs and what-not: it’s actually the point where you decide how all those materials will be ultimately written and how you can develop the right strategic approach to telling your business story in a way that helps you stand out among competitors. Once you’ve taken this step, the actual copywriting begins – based on a strong new foundation for how you want your business to be seen. And with no trees blocking the vision for your business.
